Fron Goch

Branding for Whisky

Fron Goch means “Red Breast” in Welsh and is a low-batch premium whisky made using heritage grains from around Wales. The client wanted a contemporary brand that felt very Welsh and had strong links to the original Fron Goch whisky.

The logo features a unique Welsh dragon icon inspired by the Welsh flag. It’s designed to work well both small and large, with a bold and memorable shape similar in impact to the antlers on The Dalmore bottles. The “Red Breast” idea is also reflected subtly in the design.

The font is clean and upmarket, giving a modern feel while respecting the heritage. I introduced text elements referencing the origins and “Royal” connections from previous label designs, and adapted colours from the historic brand for continuity.

The brand is flexible — the main “Fron Goch” text can be used stacked or in line, with or without the dragon icon, allowing it to work across packaging, marketing, and digital.

The result is a fresh, Welsh-strong identity that bridges history and a contemporary premium look.
